Unsinkable - Book Chat

Unsinkable - Book Chat

The 5 Town Libraries (Berkley, Dighton, Fall River, Somerset, and Swansea) invite you to join author James Sullivan for a fascinating talk about his new book Unsinkable, a true story of courage under fire on a battleship in World War II.
In the bestselling tradition of Indianapolis and In Harm’s Way comes a thrilling and vividly told account of the USS Plunkett— a US Navy destroyer that sustained the most harrowing attack on any Navy ship by the Germans during World War II, that gave as good as it got, and that was later made famous by John Ford and Herman Wouk.
Among the brave servicemen who served on the USS Plunkett were three men from Fall River. The most prominent of the three, Jim McManus, is one of the book’s major characters. Learn about their experiences on the “fightin’est ship in the Navy," based on Navy logs, war diaries, action reports, letters, journals, memoirs and dozens of interviews with the men who were on the ship and their families.
This online Zoom presentation includes images of the ship and its crew. All are invited to join us for this FREE presentation on a fascinating chapter of World War II history with a local connection.
