Annual Peeps Diorama Contest

It's the Swansea Free Public Library annual Peep Diorama Contest.  Create a diorama based on a book.  Use peeps marshmallow treats to create a scene from one of your favorite books in a shoe-box sized diorama.  The finished diorama is due at the library by Friday April 12.  Peep into your favorite book.  Don't delay.  Grab a "Peep" of the action!

Join us for a morning of card trading, Pokemon Bingo, and learning how to play the card game.

Monster Squad

Calling all Monster Fans: It's the monthly Monster Squad Club!   Each month, the Monster Squad investigates and learns about a different monster. Snacks and crafts too.

Nature in Your Neighborhood

Join staff from Mass Audubon's Oak Knoll Wildlife Sanctuary as we explore the wildlife around the Swansea area.  The program starts with a talk and activities, then we will explore the Village Park Trails behind the Library. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Swansea Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.  Register online or call 508-223-3060

Meet Dog Musher Karen Land and Sled Dog Noggin

Join us as Swansea welcomes Iditarod Racer Karen Land and her dog Noggin.  Karen will talk about her experiences racing in the Iditarod,  the annual long-distance sled dog race run in early March from Anchorage to Nome.  The Iditarod began in 1973 as an event to test the best sled dog mushers and teams but has evolved into today's highly competitive race. Karen will tell us about her adventures as a musher.

 

STEAM Book Club: The Crafty Readers

Join this great new book club for children ages 8-12+ .  You are invited to a STEAM-themed (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) book club. Each month we will read and discuss a different book with at STEAM tie in.  This month's book is Chasing Vermeer. Registration is required. Register and order your copy of the book at the Circulation Desk. Book discussion, activites and Refreshments will be served.

The Write Club

The Write Club meets every Tuesday from 4-5PM.  For creative writers ages 8-12. 

Join our group as we write stories, learn new words, do word puzzles and share what we are reading.

The Write club is an informal and casual writing group for young aspiring writers.   Kids meet and  work on fun writing exercises, discuss what they’re writing (and reading), and be inspired to make writing a daily habit.
